About Volcanoes National Park
Volcanoes National Park is one of Africa's most iconic protected areas, spanning 160 square kilometers of misty montane forests in northwestern Rwanda. It's part of the larger Virunga Conservation Area, home to approximately one-third of the world's remaining mountain gorillas.

Best Time to Visit
Volcanoes National Park can be visited year-round, but different seasons offer different advantages for your gorilla trekking experience.
Dry Seasons (June-September & December-February)
Easier trekking conditions, clearer paths, and better photography opportunities. This is the peak season, so book permits well in advance.
Rainy Seasons (March-May & October-November)
Lush vegetation, often better for photography with softer light, and gorillas may be found at lower altitudes. Fewer crowds and sometimes easier permit availability.
